Can I store my bookmarks in a file on the Internet?
Yes, using Dropbox.
What you'll get is 2 GB of file space for free, plus an extra 250 MB if you
use the link above. Once it's installed, copy your bookmark file to the
My Dropbox folder on your computer and in LinkStash click Open from the
File|LinkStashFile menu.
Note: There is no support for multiple copies of LinkStash using
(i.e. simultaneously reading and writing) the same bookmark file.
Where are the Linkstash Icons for IE7+?
They are probably there, but IE7 may be hiding them. First ensure you have checked the
integration option in LS tools|options|browser. Then try any of these:
- Click the chevron (arrows) on the end of the toolbar, that shows all hidden buttons, they may be there.
- Or, right-click the IE7 toolbar, uncheck Lock Toolbars, then drag the toolbar grip left so the icons appear on the right, you can then relock it.
- Or, right-click the IE7 toolbar, choose Customize, then Add/Remove Commands, and change the layout accordingly by adding the buttons from the available list (probably near the bottom.)
Can you tell me more about installing/uninstalling LinkStash 2?
If you already have LinkStash 1.x installed you can install LinkStash 2 over the top
of it and you wont lose any settings. When you run LinkStash 2 it converts the bookmark
file and makes a backup of the original. If you later decide you want to revert to
LinkStash 1.x (and we can't think of one reason why you would) then you can simply
re-install LinkStash 1.x over the top again (do not uninstall) and open the v1.x bookmark
file that was previously backed-up, your settings wont be lost. If you uninstall you
will lose settings and you'll be prompted to delete all LinkStash bookmark files, this
leaves your system and registry clean.
How do I use the portable LinkStash?
The portable 'version', is a separate download. The portable archive content is slightly
different to the installed archive, but the executable (lnkstash.exe) is identical. It's the
contents of the archive that makes LS work in portable mode. This means you can use the same
serial number on either, just so long as you adhere to the license agreement. The portable
download is not an installer so it won't affect your existing installation. You simply unzip
it to a portable drive, floppy disk, or where ever you like. We suggest you use
the folder in the zipfile called Linkstash. In there you will see several files, just
doubleclick on lnkstash.exe to launch the program.
You cannot run the installed version on your computer and then also expect to run
the portable version at the same time. If the computer is already running LinkStash, then
trying to run a second instance won't work, even if that is the portable one. If you wish
to run the portable one, check the system tray (or possible Windows Task Manager) and make
sure LinkStash is not already running. If it is, then close it first, then you can run the
copy from the USB drive or wherever the portable verison is.
You can open the same bookmark file with the installed version or the portable one, the file format is exactly the same.
Where do I enter my serial number?
Click the Help|Purchase/Register LinkStash menu item, and enter your details
in the box that appears. If this menu item is not there, you may have entered
it previously - the menu item is removed once entered. To verify this
click Help|About to view the registration status.
I just bought LinkStash but it's telling me I have 29 days trial left, why?
This is because you haven't yet entered your serial number. Once you
enter the serial number you will no longer see the message. Read
this FAQ if you don't know where or how to enter the
serial number.
